In 2018 Amanda travelled to the US, UK and Canada with the support of a Churchill Fellowship to investigate international approaches to supporting military spouse employment. Her aim was to inform policy and program design here in Australia. In addition, she discovered that military spouse employment is a global issue, as well as a domestic one.
“I had the privilege of meeting with and learning from a number of individuals and organisations from the government, non-profit and private sectors. Since then I’ve been working hard to share my findings and recommendations with a wide range of stakeholders here in Australia”.
You can access the report here and from The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust of Australia website.
The report has been cited in a number of reports on military spouse employment including Living in Our Shoes in the UK, and a review of partner employment by Proximity Consultancy for Defence Member and Family Support.
Amanda’s Churchill Fellowship also gave rise to the International Military Spouse Employment Summit.
